Breezy Warm Day

Today in Santa Barbara, a few painters and I decided to do some plein air painting at the beach. The weather conditionts were perfect, and the breeze was welcomed! I enjoy working in my studio but bringing my gear to the beach just minutes away from my studio is always tempting especially when the weather was ideal like today. Yes I live in paradise!

Plein air painting is about responding emotionally to the moment, the moment will never be replicated again. The scene will be different as will my mood, thoughts and a whole host of other factors won't be the same on the next day. Usually working quickly before the light changes, whether it is an abstract approach, or capturing the morning light, there is always room for experiment, exploring and having fun!
